Seal Sitters' co-founder and acclaimed author Brenda Peterson, will be featured in the Southwest Seattle Historical Society's "Words, Writers and West Seattle" series. Visit Brenda's website here.

On Friday, June 6th, from 5-7pm at the West Seattle Barnes and Noble (map it here), Brenda will be reading from the following recent works:

Leopard and Silkie: One Boy's Quest to Save the Seal Pups is the true story of two harbor seal pups who befriended each other on the shore of West Seattle. Woven into the storyline is young Seal Sitter Miles whose mission is to protect “Leopard”. The book is illustrated by photographer Robin Lindsey, co-founder and Lead Investigator of Seal Sitters. Visit the Leopard and Silkie website for backstory on the book and ways young people can help wildlife - no matter what part of the country they live in.

The Drowning World is Brenda's first venture into Young Adult fiction. It is the tale of two different people from two very different worlds. Can a mermaid and a human boy find love? Can they survive in his world and hers? Read Brenda's interview about the book here.

There will be a Q&A session following the talk.

Please make sure to attend if you can! Barring marine mammal emergencies, Robin plans to be there as well.

We hope to see you Friday. Free seal stickers for all kids in attendance!
